A total of 54 students from the three educational units sponsored by the Wong Foundation: Cristobal Colon, Rafael Olmedo and Dr. Segundo Wong Mayorga received their baccalaureate degrees last week, the result of years of dedication and effort.

One of the graduates was Arianna Noboa, from the Cristobal Colon Educational Unit. In her speech, the young woman highlighted the education she received during her time as a student: “I am very grateful to the Wong Foundation for giving us the opportunity to have a free and excellent education. They have trained us to be critical, responsible and committed citizens of our society. They have taught us to think, reflect and act with integrity and ethics”.

Vicente Wong, member of the Board of Directors of the Wong Foundation and CEO of Favorita Fruit, congratulated the graduates and invited them to continue aspiring to excellence in order to leave a legacy in society: “We come here to serve, to leave a mark, and we do that by knowing our purpose, that which comes from the heart, growing and bringing out all the potential we have as human beings, helping unselfishly. There you will find lasting happiness, that which is precisely in serving others”.
He also invited the new high school seniors to continue their training with the Wong Foundation through AGROFUTURO, whose technical training programs for young people up to 29 years aim to provide productive skills that facilitate their access to the local labor market.

“I ask you today: what are you going to do from here on out? Your parents have already done their job and so have the foundation. I invite you now to join us in this desire to make you grow with our programs. Opportunities must be taken. From now on, with their effort and dedication, they will really be those beings that the country needs, those leaders of change, and a change based on values, effort and work. That is the only thing that can change this country,” he said.

Finally, Ricardo Romero, director of the Wong Foundation, encouraged young people to dream big, act with courage and work to be the best version of themselves every day. “The world needs young people who are brave and determined to make a difference and, today more than ever, we know that you have what it takes, the talent and the ability to achieve this.”

Through the educational units in rural areas sponsored by the Wong Foundation, we develop affective, cognitive and ethical competencies, fostering values, entrepreneurship and socio-environmental responsibility in students, with the aim of forming young leaders committed to the well-being and sustainable development of their communities. Currently, 665 students are educated in the educational units of the Wong Foundation.
