With the aim of promoting health through sports, encouraging talent and strengthening integration among colleagues, the Reybanpac Workers' Company Committee officially inaugurated the 2022 Agricultural Olympics and Sports Games.
As an opening activity, a 4K race was held in the city of Quevedo. More than 400 men and women belonging to the company's 43 farms registered to participate in the different categories.
Later, in an atmosphere of joy in the company of family and friends, the opening ceremony and parade of the sports teams took place. These will compete for 2 months in a soccer tournament, the most popular sport in Ecuador. Likewise, the representatives of each farm that will be participating in the 2022 Agricultural Olympics marched through the field.
At the event, Iván Dumes Muriel, secretary of sports and culture of the Reybanpac Workers' Company Committee, invited those present to live these days with cheerfulness and fellowship. He celebrated that, after the difficult times caused by the pandemic, but "always with faith in God, the strength of the family, the desire to move forward and our commitment to nourish the world, we have reached this moment with great joy to resume agricultural and sports competitions.”
In the agricultural Olympics, the participants will demonstrate their skills in different field and packing tasks. This activity seeks to promote excellence and give special recognition to the most outstanding workers. The Olympics have a qualifying stage between the farms of the 6 zones where the company has its banana crops, after which the members of the teams that will represent each zone in the grand final will be selected.
