On October 1, PremioeXpor 2026 was held, organized by the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor) to recognize the excellence of companies that promote Ecuador’s presence in international markets.

This edition also commemorated the federation’s 50th anniversary and included special awards recognizing the legacy and contributions of leading companies in the country’s foreign trade sector. During the awards ceremony, Reybanpac received the “Export Legacy” statuette in recognition of its track record, performance, and leadership, which for nearly five decades have contributed to strengthening the national export sector. The award was presented to José Antonio Vargas, the company’s general manager.

“We accept this recognition with pride and gratitude. It honors the vision of our founder and the work of generations of employees who, together with the trust of our customers and partners, have made this journey possible. We congratulate Fedexpor on its 50 years of institutional existence and for its contribution to strengthening Ecuador’s export sector. We share the conviction that bringing the best of Ecuador to the world also means nurturing people and cultivating well-being.”

A Legacy That Continues to Blaze Trails
The origins of this legacy lie in the vision of Don Segundo Wong Mayorga, who began his agricultural operations in 1956 by supplying bananas to export companies. After venturing into direct exports alongside other entrepreneurs, he founded Reybanpac in 1977, solidifying his path as an independent exporter.

His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to diversification led him to drive the opening and development of markets that, at the time, were not being served by any other country, such as China and Russia. This vision not only laid the foundation for the company’s growth but also helped expand opportunities for the national banana industry.

Today, Reybanpac is Ecuador’s largest producer and second-largest exporter of premium bananas. Its flagship brand, Favorita, reaches more than 30 destinations across five continents, with Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Asia among its main markets. In 2025, the company exported 31.1 million boxes of bananas.

This recognition celebrates a shared history and renews Reybanpac’s commitment to the future. Building on that legacy, the company will continue to prioritize quality, innovation, and sustainability to strengthen its relationships with the world and create opportunities from Ecuador’s countryside, staying true to its purpose: to nurturing people and cultivate well-being.
