Sustainability and Agroindustry

The path of sustainable development must aim to find a balance between the health of ecosystems and the progress of societies. We need to see the situation from a different angle and work with determination and creativity to find solutions and mechanisms to achieve what is known as ecological transformation.

What does this mean for agribusiness?
There are clear lines of action in which our organizations can work.

Energy: decrease energy consumption, reduce the use of fossil fuels and make a transition to renewable energy. At this point, it is essential to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) that cause climate change.

Circular Economy: evolve from the linear economic model to one where all the production stages and the value chain are well integrated to make the best use of resources and avoid waste. In the case of the agro-industrial sector, with special attention to contributing to food security.

Efficiency: improve production processes so that the efficient use of resources and raw materials is possible, as well as the reduction of waste and GHG emissions. Always hand in hand with respect and care for the health and well-being of employees.

To work in these areas, companies must update their policies and procedures, as well as commit and prepare their internal teams to successfully move towards the sustainable development goals. Every evolutionary process has its challenges, but we must trust in our ability to adapt and innovate.

On the other hand, this effort cannot be isolated. The support of governments is needed with strategies and incentives that enable and favor an environmentally responsible agribusiness that can be competitive at the same time.

Our commitment.
Environmental responsibility has always been an intrinsic value at Reybanpac. We value and take care of the land where the most exquisite bananas grow.

Year after year we have taken new steps to improve in terms of sustainability. We implemented precision agriculture. We have worked to save water and reduce CO2 emissions to achieve carbon neutrality. We have a packinghouse renovation plan in progress in order to achieve greater efficiency in our processes; among other projects. Real actions that allow us to achieve our sustainability goals.

Our commitment is to be consistent with our values that demand us excellence and social and environmental responsibility. We will continue to strive to improve ourselves, and thus actively contribute to the goals of the Global Compact and the protection of our planet.
