WHEN WE TALK ABOUT BANANAS, WE TALK ABOUT ECUADOR.

2020-10-01

Ecuador is the leader in banana exports with 6.8 million tons per year, which represents more than 30% of the world banana trade. When we talk about Ecuador we talk about the best production cycle in the industry, since its peak of production is equal to the peak of demand in the northern hemisphere. Its bananas have a longer green stage given that the plantations are located in the tropics, due to its stable climatic conditions. In terms of quality, it differs due to its size and sweetness typical of the best lands for this crop on the Ecuadorian coast.

In addition to the comparative advantages of the Ecuadorian banana industry, the sector works to improve its agricultural practices and position its banana as a "Premium & Sustainable".
Just at the beginning of 2020, the country was Partnerland at Fruit Logistica in Berlin, where it showcased what distinguishes its exportable offer and its pillars for development: productivity, quality, traceability, cooperativism, social and environmental responsibility.

Reybanpac already has a good path in this regard, since for some years we have been investing in technology, infrastructure, research and training to achieve our sustainability goals. These actions, added to our values and corporate culture, have made us a benchmark in the industry. As a company, we share the same vision with the sector, and we have assumed our role as a participatory and proactive actor on a permanent basis. Also recognizing that we have much to contribute to the development of agribusiness after 43 years of experience.

The Ecuadorian banana sector is determined to continue growing, innovating and improving its agricultural policies and processes in favor of greater productivity, making it capable of being highly competitive and to respond to the demands of the global market. This implies constant and collaborative work.

With this spirit of evolution, every year the Ecuadorian Banana Exporters Association (AEBE) organizes the International Banana Convention to bring together producers, exporters and main actors in the value chain. The seventeenth edition of the Convention will be held this October virtually, with an agenda that includes a series of talks and forums focused on the analysis of the current situation and future projection of the industry, from the local and international perspective.

Reybanpac will be part of this important event and we want to extend a special invitation to accompany our CEO, Vicente Wong, who will participate in a panel of experts on Tuesday, October 6, at 3:20 p.m. (Ecuador time), to share how the company has successfully faced the COVID19 crisis.
