Aware of the importance of employment opportunities with living wages for the development of nations, Reybanpac is strongly committed to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG #8, which involves decent work and economic growth.

With almost 6,000 employees, Reybanpac has positioned itself as one of the organizations that generates the most employment in Ecuador. Of that figure, 85% corresponds to agricultural personnel residing in the Ecuadorian provinces of Los Ríos, Santo Domingo, and Cotopaxi, which reflects the responsibility for the development of rural communities and their people.

The company has also contributed significantly to generating employment for young people in the country. As the Ministry of Labor reported, between November 2023 and April 2024, Reybanpac hired 416 people between the ages of 18 and 29, placing it among the 10 Ecuadorian companies that created the most jobs for young people during this period.

"The generation of job opportunities is a fundamental tool to contribute to the development of society. Even more so today, given the challenges that our country faces in terms of poverty, criminality and destruction of the social fabric," explains Leonardo Viteri, Vice President of Corporate Affairs.

Job creation needs to be accompanied by tools so that people can develop, grow, and improve their quality of life and that of their families. That is why Reybanpac has implemented training programs, aimed at both internal collaborators and external people, with a technical and practical approach to strengthen the acquisition of skills and knowledge linked to real situations in the productive environment.

An example of this is the Productive Technical Baccalaureate (BTP) with a specialization in agricultural entrepreneurship, implemented thanks to an agreement between Reybanpac, Wong Foundation, and the Ministry of Education. Between 2021 and 2024, this dual education program benefited 129 young people who obtained a specialized technical certification in banana production. 38% of that group were women.

The BTP was aimed at high school graduates from the Wong Foundation and company employees interested in strengthening their knowledge and achieving a technical certification. As a result, 75% of the graduates are currently working, while the rest of them are going through selection processes. In addition, 8.7% of the participants were promoted to decision-making positions. In this way, Reybanpac and the Wong Foundation also contribute to reducing migration to large cities due to the lack of job opportunities in rural areas.

Moreover, through the Reybanpac Center of Excellence (CER), the company offers its employees the opportunity to grow professionally by developing skills and competencies in banana production. Since 2014, 1396 graduates have been incorporated. The administrative and agricultural programs offered by CER are endorsed by the Ministry of Labor.

In addition, as part of its efforts to ensure the comprehensive well-being of its employees, Reybanpac has medical dispensaries close to its areas of operation to provide free care to its employees, as well as their spouses and children. Since March 2024, these centers have been annexed to the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), which has allowed, for example, referrals to IESS health centers nationwide for specialized outpatient care.

Workers also have transportation services, quality meals, constant training, and the opportunity to join the El Porvenir Savings and Credit Cooperative, which offers a series of benefits to its members.

"We are a business that works for its country and its people, propelling growth and wellness for 47 years," concludes Viteri.
